Traditional Coppice Products

All our products come from local, sustainably managed woodland, mostly from the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape. Every winter we cut and care for coppice, and we also carry out conservation work with partners such as the RSPB, Natural England and the National Trust. Much of our work creates woodland products which are useful, beautiful, or both! Please check here for current prices or contact us for bespoke enquiries.

Cleft Hurdle Gates

These gates can be made to any size. The wood is split from oak or ash and smoothed to remove splinters and sharp edges. Traditionally used as portable gates to fence in livestock temporarily, our cleft hurdle gates would make a beautiful addition to any garden.

We have a small stock of hurdle gates available to collect from our yard or we can make them to meet your requirements.

Bean poles, hurdle rods and hedging stakes

The straight hazel rods created by coppice management are perfect for use around the home, garden and countryside. Hazel beanpoles are a great local and sustainable alternative to bamboo poles. We also supply hurdle rods for weaving hazel hurdles, and hedging stakes for hedge laying.

Pea Sticks

The naturally fan shaped tops of hazel provide an excellent form for peas to climb up and over. We supply pea sticks to local gardeners and growers and to local garden centres.

Our pea sticks are sold in bundles of 10 and are available to collect from our yard throughout the year.
